The Staff Nurse is responsible for interpreting medical care plans, assessing patients, ensuring safe nursing care, providing individualized care, evaluating care for patient groups, giving and receiving shift reports, performing patient assessments, reviewing ancillary service reports, maintaining control of medicine and supplies, planning patient discharges, referring patients to other services, providing a safe environment, assigning tasks to personnel, performing nursing treatments and procedures, educating patients and families, documenting care, assisting with activities of daily living, maintaining records, accompanying patients during transfers, notifying appropriate parties of patient condition changes, observing and evaluating work of other staff, participating in teaching and orientation activities, attending meetings and inservice programs, developing and revising policies and procedures, respecting patient confidentiality, and other related duties. Requirements include graduation from an accredited nursing school, state licensure, physical abilities to perform job tasks, and willingness to relocate.
