Competent Nurse practices independently, provides routine and complex care, makes appropriate assignments, and delegates care. Responsibilities include meeting competencies, providing nursing care, administering medications, documenting patient care, and addressing patient needs. Core competencies involve utilizing the nursing process, patient throughput, unit operations, safe practice/quality care/regulations, and technical competencies. Job requirements include a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, 1 year of related nursing specialty experience preferred, BLS certification, RN license, attendance at New Nurses Orientation, completion of annual competency verification, and certifications in Electronic Fetal Monitoring, NRP, and ACLS.
