Process and screen cytological specimens from various body sites, work closely with Pathologists, recognize abnormal and normal cells, and classify findings. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited cytotechnologist program and state licensure as a cytotechnologist in West Virginia. Preferred qualifications include previous laboratory experience and certification by ASCP or equivalent agency. Core duties involve performing diagnostic procedures, preparing solutions, restocking supplies, accessioning specimens, ensuring quality control, and participating in educational endeavors. Physical requirements include standing/sitting for long periods, good visual acuity, and manual dexterity. Working environment may include noise, odors, and exposure to viruses. Skills needed include computer proficiency, communication, and use of laboratory equipment. This full-time position at a diverse Cytology laboratory in West Virginia involves assessing various cytology specimens, interacting with healthcare personnel, and supporting personal growth.
