Summary: The Nurse in this CVICU unit provides routine and complex care for cardiovascular patients, working closely with surgeons. Responsibilities include meeting competencies, utilizing the nursing process, addressing patient needs, administering medications, and providing education. Core competencies involve utilizing the nursing process, patient throughput, unit operations, safe practice/quality care, and regulations. Technical competencies include clinical policies and standards, health information documentation, medical equipment, medical order processing, patient chart reading and interpretation, and patient safety.
