The Nurse in Medsurg or Telemetry setting practices independently, providing routine and complex care, making appropriate assignments, and delegating care. Responsibilities include meeting competencies, providing nursing care, administering medications, documenting patient information, and educating patients. Core competencies involve utilizing the nursing process, patient throughput, unit operations, safe practice/quality care/regulations, and technical competencies in clinical policies and standards, health information documentation, medical equipment, medical order processing, patient chart reading and interpretation, and patient safety. Requirements include a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, 2 years of experience in Medsurg and Telemetry, BLS, ACLS, RN License, PALS, and de-escalation training.
